We’re looking for senior high school students who have a passion for coding to join our CodeWarrior Code Camps as Guides/Mentors. You’ll work under two senior developers and be fully supported on the day. This is paid casual work during the Spring school holidays (Hills District + Bungendore).

What you’ll do#

  • Help small groups of campers (ages ~8–14) build fun coding projects.
  • Be a friendly guide: unblock problems, encourage teamwork, celebrate wins.
  • Assist with setup (BYOD / Raspberry Pi), basic troubleshooting, and safe device use.
  • Model good practices: save early, test often, be kind, stay curious.

Who this is for#

  • Year 10–12 students who enjoy coding and helping others.
  • Comfortable with (any of) Python, Godot, web basics, game development or Raspberry Pi.
  • Patient, reliable, and good with kids. Teaching/tutoring experience is a bonus, not required.

Training & support#

  • You’ll get a short pre-camp briefing and on-the-day guidance from senior developers.

Practical bits#

  • Paid casual role (rate shared at interview).
  • Shifts align with camp hours (half and full school-day length).
  • Bring your own laptop if you can.

How to apply (2 mins)#

  • Go to the Contact us page on this site.
  • In the “Question / suggestion” field, write a short paragraph that covers:
    • Your year level, school, and suburb.
    • Any coding experience/tech you know.
    • You’re welcome to share a link to project you’re proud of, but not required.
    • Hills District or Bungendore.
  • Prefer to chat? Call Simon on the phone number at the bottom of the Contact page.

FAQ#

Is this paid?

Yes—casual paid shifts. We’ll confirm the rate and details at interview.

Do I need my own laptop?

Helpful but not mandatory. We can provide a Camp Device.

Do I need prior teaching experience?

Nope. If you like coding and people, we’ll support you with the rest.

What will I be mentoring on?

Beginner-friendly activities (e.g., Godot, Python, Javascript). Pair-based learning is common, so you’ll often support two campers working together.

If you’re excited about coding and keen to help younger kids get started, we’d love to hear from you.
